Odell St. Lupulin … bow before me.

Odell St. Lupulin 6.5% ABV 46 IBUs Bow before me and receive your refreshment faithful follower.  St. Lupulin has shined down upon me and I am grateful.  Odell has yet to disappoint me.  Not only do they brew fantastic beer but they are right down the street from me, so hoping over to partake in their wonderful concoctions is easy.  This was the case with their seasonal release of St. Lupulin, an extra pale ale coming in at 6.5% ABV and 46 IBU.  In Fort Collins, the release of St. Lupulin is somewhat of a city wide holiday and all...

First Sip … Boom! Ballast Point Dorado Double IPA

Ballast Point Dorado 9.6% ABV Fewer things are as exciting as getting beer (aka yeast samples) mail.  Often times for me it starts with the surprise of getting a package when you weren’t expecting one.  Wondering who it could be from, I quickly cut the tape to find that someone has taken a fair amount of time padding and packaging it’s contents.  Upon removing the layers and layers of bubble wrap, it revealed itself…garnering a response from me along the lines of “Yes!” or “Holy Crap”.  I know…I’m a linguistic genius.  But one thing is for sure, opening my recent beer mail to see I was sent a Ballast Point Dorado Double IPA was beyond exciting. Now, to the beer drinking.  I saved this one for a few weeks.  I was waiting for the perfect time to dedicate to drinking this one.  On a fine sunny Sunday afternoon, I decided it was go time. I cracked the bomber of Dorado and poured it into my globe glass.  Upon the pour I quickly noticed the beautiful color of a hazy orange color.  A good amount of white head topped the pour. On the nose, a great bouquet of citrus.  Picked up tons of grapefruit and citrus peel.  A slight pine note with some malt sweetness.  I wasn’t sure what to expect in regards to taste as this DIPA was hitting...

The beer pours a nice golden orange color with a great amount of white head, that leaves a fantastic amount of lacing to remind you...

Deviant but Good: Deviant Dale’s IPA

Deviant Dale’s IPA 8% ABV 85 IBU Northern Colorado is getting pounded with snow right now, with an expected 6-12 inches in 24 hours.  While some may reach for a nice dark and heavy porter or stout…I break the mold and reach for Deviant Dale’s IPA by Oskar Blues Brewery in Longmont, Colorado.  Right away this IPA stands out because it comes in a can and is packing 8.0% Alcohol by Volume, so don’t expect to get much done after this beer.   A full pint can that stamped 12-03-12, so we can expect a fresh IPA from down...
