Great American Beer Festival 2015
Another Great American Beer Festival (GABF) is in the books. I attended, I conquered and well, I can’t wait until next year. This year’s festival was huge! I have been in years past and seemed to navigate my way around an already big setup, but this year I was like a 3 year old kid lost at Disney World.
Of course being the prepared beer connoisseur that I am, I prepared my plan of attack for the Saturday afternoon American Homebrewers Association members only session. A plan is necessary especially with over 3,800 beers being poured and hundreds of breweries.
Well, let’s just say that my plan of attack was working great until about 2 hours in. Then I just gave up and let the spirit move me to find some great beers from both well known and new-to-me breweries.
Some of my favorites that stuck out were
- 512 brewing Double Pecan Porter
- Drake’s Brewing Aroma Coma
- Modern Times Black House
- Firestone Walker Sour Opal
- Bruery Oude Tart and Terreux
- Captain Lawrence Rosso E Marrone.
- To be honest, every beer I had was fantastic.
I was able to hang out with some of my fellow Liquid Poets Homebrew Club members, make some new friends, meet the one and only Beer Wench and drink some fantastic beer. Below are a few pictures of my time at the 2015 GABF. Here is to the 2016 Great American Beer Festival! Cheers!
