Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ale – Oro de Calabaza 8% ABV

Ever time I find myself wandering aimlessly through the aisle of my local beer mart trying to decided what to try next, there’s always one beer that begs me to show it a good time, Oro de Calabaza. I’ve never thought much of this beer because its a sour beer and I never thought much of a sour beer, but when I looked this one up its a Belgian Style Sour, win win right? Armed with my New Jersey Craft Beer membership card and a glimmer of Belgian ale hope, I figured this was as good as a time as any to jump into the illusive world of sours.

I found it really hard to give this beer a rating since its my first foray into sours but I didn’t hate it and it met some of those Belgian yeast characteristics I love in beer. So for what it is I gave it high marks but who knows maybe I’m totally off, only time and more sour R&D research will tell. Leave some comments below and tell us what you think.
